Dashboard overview
What the first screen is telling you, and how it differs for a client and for the firm.

The dashboard is the landing screen after sign-in. It is a summary, not a working screen: nothing lives only there, and everything on it is a shortcut into Documents, Folders, Messages or Notifications.
What the firm sees
A CPA or admin gets the state of the firm’s work:
- Document counts by status — how much is uploaded, processed, waiting for approval or waiting for a signature. The number waiting is the one to watch; it is work that has stopped.
- Recent activity — the most recent uploads and changes across the firm, newest first.
- Unread messages and notifications — the same counts carried by the sidebar badges.
What a client sees
The same shape, narrowed to them: their own documents, their own recent activity, their own unread messages. A client’s dashboard never counts anything belonging to another client.
Using the counts
Treat the status tiles as a queue rather than a report. In practice:
- Pending approval means a client uploaded something and your firm’s rules require somebody to accept it. See Document status and approvals.
- Pending signature means a signature request is out and nobody has signed yet. See Digital signatures.
Both are counts of work sitting still, and both are cleared from Documents rather than from the dashboard itself.
The sidebar
The sidebar is the actual navigation and is the same on every screen: Dashboard, Documents, Users, Folders, Messages and Notifications, with Settings and Help & Support pinned to the bottom. A client sees a shorter version of it — no Users — for the reasons in Understanding user roles and permissions.
