Finding a document again
Searching, and the four filters that narrow a long list faster than searching does.

By the middle of a season the document list is long enough that scrolling it is not a plan. Two approaches, and the second is usually the faster one.
Search
The search box over Documents matches on the document’s name. It is the right tool when you know roughly what the file is called and the wrong one when you do not.
Filter
The filters narrow the list without you having to remember anything:
- Status — Pending, Processed, Completed, Pending Approval, Pending Signature, Rejected.
- Document Type — your firm’s own list, set under Settings → Organization → Document Type.
- Folder — one client, one year, one engagement.
- Uploaded By and Date Uploaded — who put it there and when.
Filters combine. “Pending Signature, this client, this year” is three presses and usually lands on the document exactly.
Sorting
The list sorts by Date Uploaded by default, newest first. That is the right order for “what has just arrived” and the wrong order for “what has been sitting here longest” — reverse it when you are clearing a backlog rather than working through the new.
Filtering inside a folder
Folders has its own filters for document type and status, so you can ask the same questions within one client’s folder instead of across the whole firm.
When nothing comes back
An empty list usually means a filter is still set from the last thing you were doing rather than that the document is gone. Clear the filters before you conclude anything. If the document genuinely is not there, it may be waiting on approval — see Document status and approvals.
