Billing and subscription management
Where the plan lives, what the statuses mean, and what to do before a renewal or a cancellation.

Settings → Billing & Plans shows the firm’s subscription. Only admins see it; CPAs and clients do not.
What is on the screen
The plan the firm is on, the billing cycle — monthly or yearly — and the subscription’s current status.
The statuses
- Trial — you are evaluating, and nothing has been charged yet.
- Active — the subscription is paid and running.
- Past due — a payment did not go through. This is the one to act on today; it is a card problem, not a decision, in the overwhelming majority of cases.
- Expired — the subscription has run out.
- Cancelled — it has been ended and will not renew.
Changing plan
Change the plan or the cycle from the same screen. Moving from monthly to yearly is usually the cheaper arrangement if you already know you are keeping it past the season.
Before a season, not during one
Check two things in the autumn rather than in February: that the plan covers the number of people you are about to invite, and that the card on file has not expired. A payment failing in the middle of a filing season is an avoidable bad week.
Cancelling
Cancel from the billing screen. Before you do, get your documents out — downloads are one at a time, by hand, and a portal full of a season’s work is not something to retrieve in an afternoon. See Download and export options.
If you need your firm’s data out in bulk, ask support before cancelling rather than after.
Questions about an invoice
Billing questions go to support through Help & Support → Contact Support inside the portal. Include the firm’s name and the date on the charge.
This did not answer it?
Sign in and write to us from Help & Support inside the portal — a message from there arrives with your firm and your account already attached, so nobody has to ask you which is which.
